arch of sole
By Nikki Quismondo
the arch of my foot is the heart of my sole
it is the dream of a dancer
it doesn't press against nothing,
only in the soft shores of your golden sand
it moves the way an instrument plays
the notes pressed to form sound
the feet press to form rhythm and movement
it carries the nerves of the whole body
my heel comes from my cheek
my earlobe, the pinky toe
it holds my body
sacrifices itself to carry my being
takes me for long walks along the echoes of many waves
